Camelot Unchained takes place in a world shattered by a cataclysmic event known as the First Breaking of the World. Long ago, the Veil—a border between the physical world and a magical realm—was pierced. This led to the creation of monsters, abominations, and new races, some of whom became stronger, while others were turned into monstrosities.

Three brothers wielding mystical swords emerged, forming the realms of the Arthurians, Vikings, and Tuatha De Danann. Players choose their realm and engage in massive battles to control the world.

  • Arthurians: Representing nobility and virtue.
  • Tuatha De Danann: Unity with nature and magic.
  • Vikings: Warriors driven by conquest.

Each realm grants unique races and classes, such as Frost Giants, Stone Golems, Spirits, and Valkyries.

The game features an intricate combat system with realm-versus-realm battles hosting up to a thousand players. Custom abilities and items, unique race and class combinations, and environmental interactions add depth and strategy to combat.

Alongside the main game, Camelot Unchained offers a building system called CUBE, allowing players to create structures with physics. It’s available to all backers of the game.

Using its proprietary game engine, Camelot Unchained emphasizes large-scale battles and server-side physics.

Funding and Development

The game has raised $17 million through crowdfunding, investments, and contributions from lead designer Mark Jacobs. It also received support from the Paycheck Protection Program and has been offering shares of the company.

Camelot Unchained is a bold undertaking with a rich narrative and innovative gameplay mechanics. Its focus on realm-versus-realm battles and customization provides a unique experience for MMORPG enthusiasts. However, delays in development and controversies may affect its overall success.
